If you've lived through a big crisis, you feel that that's going to be the center of the universe.

The most difficult discovery [arriving from War] is that you are not; no one cares as much as you think, and life is still going on and people are still living.

It’s a 20-minute black-and-white short, filmed from a first-person point of view, haunted by a trauma, unresolved memories and depression. The lens lingers, fascinated, over towering glass and concrete skyscrapers while the superimposed sounds of war - sporadic gunfire, jet engines and air strikes - implant Syria's present onto Beirut's past.
